There is something so special about having a bespoke piece of furniture or decor in your home. The little details are all thought through and it's made for your life and style. At KMI we love to think up custom designs for our clients and source unique fabrics and finishes for these pieces. And sometimes we come across fabrics we love too much not to use, or have an idea in mind that we have to bring to life. Over the years, we've designed a small assortment of soft furnishings that we decided to make available on our site. We often source fabrics and trims from fabric houses in Canada and England and we collaborate with our local workrooms to have them made into pillows and lampshades.
We also love to incorporate off-cuts of fabrics as well as vintage fabrics. Last year, I made a couple of trips to London and happened upon some beautiful off-cuts of fabrics from favourite fabric designers and then dreamt up how those designs could be used. It's such a fun process that we love to do at KMI.
Swapping out your standard white lampshade for something with a colour or pattern is a lovely way to add a bit of whimsy to your space. This block print lampshade in the image above is a custom shade that we had made out of a fabric sourced from London. The geometric quality and white space in the fabric design keep the overall effect serene but interesting.
Whether you're looking to have something made specifically for you, or you have your eye on one of our custom designs available on the website, bespoke pieces add personality and charm to your home. If you're interested in working together to create a custom design for your home, feel free to reach out to us here and we can chat about what you have in mind. We'd love to work with you!
